The Video Privacy Protection Act (“VPPA”) is a federal statute that may grant consumers up to $2,500 in compensation if a video service provider unlawfully discloses users’ video-watching history without obtaining informed written consent.
Currently, Bursor & Fisher is investigating whether Cineverse’s treatment of its customers’ video viewing history might breach the VPPA.
